This is one of my favorite color formulas I have done so far. I loved spending time on this gals hair! Isn't it so nice when you have a client in your chair that you just click with? I enjoyed every second with this honey and her hair turned out AMAZING. In the orgional consultation she sent me a picture of a wig. Ya'll. Every hairstylist knows that wigs are not realistic hair, and that is what I told her. Always under promise and over achieve. So from the very start of our journey together with her hair, we were both honest with each other and were being realistic with her hair. Below is her hair from her first session before we applied the lightener.

During session one, I used the wet balayage technique using 30 volume and Joico Blondelife Creme Lightener. I applied her root melt first using Redken Shades EQ and the applied her lightener. After letting her lift without heat for an hour I rinsed her out and toned her with 09P Redken Shades.

We waited four weeks and she came back for her last session. I always prime my color clients with Joico Defy Damage spray so after priming her hair I went straight in with a foilayage using once again 30 volume and Blondelife Creme. Previously in the first session, I applied the root melt first but this session I applied the root melt after I finished her balayage. I applied her lightener in foils in thick panels, leaving no hair out and feathering the lightener close to the root. After she processed I rinsed out her lightener using clarifying shampoo then pre-toned her hair with 08V to eliminate any brassiness from her roots. I made sure to comb out her hair with a wide tooth comb so that I could easily and efficiently apply her root tap. I started her root tap at the bottom two quadrants of her hair and applied it to her root, dragging it down about an inch. I worked my way up her hair, combing with a fine tooth comb from her roots to her ends ONCE every few sections. After her root tap I let her process for about 15 minutes and then began applying her toner in the back quadrants and blending blending blending with my fingers where the toner and root tap meet to get the perfect blend. Make sure to apply the toner thoroughly but fast because you do not want to over process her hair and make it gray. After washing out her toner and root melt I applied straight 06N directly onto her roots for a few minutes to make sure we got full coverage on her roots. Rinse out and condition then style as wanted.
